I couldn’t help it. Ever since I made what is turning out to be a VERY bad call on a certain buy last month I have avoided looking at my Fidelity account, but today I broke down and took a peek.

Ouch.

There goes my lofty dream of being a hedge fund genius.

Ignorance is Not Bliss to the Ones You’re Ignorant About

Last week I went to a new doctor and one of the receptionists was taking my information to enter into the computer.

“Where were you born?” she asked.
“New Jersey. Camden,” I answered.
“Oh, ‘cuz I thought you looked Asian…”

Sigh.

A State of Trance

I went to the Armin van Buuren performance on Saturday night at Roseland Ballroom. The line to get into the venue was all good—didn’t take more than 15 minutes to get my wristband and get through security—but then the line for the coat check took me over an hour. Apparently I got in the wrong line, because my line actually ended up converging with two other lines. It didn’t help that a bothersome 20-year old clung onto me in the hopes, I guess, that I’d buy drinks for him, and I couldn’t shake the guy because I was stuck in line. For over an hour, might I remind you. He came to the bar with me where it took another 20+ minutes to get a drink, or would have if I’d stayed to order. My coworkers came to my rescue and I finally ditched the guy, me sadly drinkless but happily free of the nuisance.

The rest of the night went smoothly (except for the ridiculous line for the bathroom), and for all the trouble it was worth it to see Armin live. That being said, I don’t think I’ll be attending any big DJ events like that again any time soon, at least not at Roseland. I saw Ferry Corsten at Pacha with John in October and that was not nearly the pain in the ass it was for this show. Then again, Armin is the #1 DJ, as Annoying Kid gleefully informed me multiple times, so I guess that’s what you gotta expect for this kind of performance.

Actually, let me let you in on a little secret… I actually like Ferry Corsten’s music a little better anyway.
