REEEEAD MEEEE
Right now I’m so paranoid about it that even though I’ve got it held snugly in the leather cover I got for it, during transport I actually put the whole thing in the nice little plastic bag the leather cover came in. I want to keep the cover nice. Of course as the novelty wears off I’ll ditch the plastic bag and just toss the nook into the bottom of my messy cloth shopping bag and bang it around on the train.
Now I just need books to read. Tell me what I should read.

Hercules & Love Affair – Blind (Frankie Knuckles Remix)
First heard it over a year ago at Cielo (Adult Section with Darshan Jesrani and Dennis Kane) and loved it immediately. I even sought these DJs out again in the hopes of asking what the song was, but I never heard them play it again. I heard it again during Electric Zoo when Frankie Knuckles (<3) spun, not realizing it was his own damn remix, then once more yesterday during the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event. Only then did I finally take down some lyrics and look for the song.
At long last the search is over! Frankie Knuckles totally makes this song golden.

5 years and 200 explanations later… My problem was that I didn’t know when it was applied (after pass? Nope!). Now I’ve got it.
Also, USA-England was pretty fun. Hassled some Brits who were on their way to Nevada Smiths (“You’re shaking your head at us, love!” How cute!), line for Tonic was way too ridiculous, settled down at the smaller Artica Bar & Grill where it ended up being for the best because everyone was rooting for USA there. I saw too many people wearing English kits heading to those other bars. :p

Beehive!
20 minutes in, I’m still laughing about it. I want one.

This is it, ladies and gentlemen, I’ve completely succumbed to World Cup fever and am rooting for a nation I have nothing to do with (yet…).

Your face is still uglier than my toes.
It was a pretty ridiculous process trying to get the nail lady to understand exactly what I wanted. This isn’t even what I had in mind originally, but it works. If I didn’t understand Vietnamese, who knows what the hell the hell I would’ve gotten (something much more classy and refined, I’m sure).
Edit: Oh, yeah, that’s totally Dutch support, by the way. The orange is, well, bloody Dutch is all, and the red, white, and blue are the Dutch flag, but fortunately can double as US support during England vs. USA.

I got FIFA World Cup 2010 yesterday for XBox 360. I suck total balls at it. I tried playing online and my opponent scored a goal in three minutes. He went on to score five more goals before halftime. But I say it’s unfair since Germany’s stats are ridiculous in this game. I was playing as Holland.
Speaking of Holland, I’m rooting for Partij van de Aardbei in tomorrow’s election. …Oh, wait, it’s Arbeid? Not so cute.

I have a cold, but it’s in its diminishing stages where I’m still a bit snotty and I’m coughing, but that cloudy, hazy feeling in my head, the sinus pressure, and overall general feeling of poopiness is no longer present. I’m finding this to be an agreeable manner of living at the moment because people at work are largely staying away from me, and even though I’m blowing my nose and coughing, I certainly don’t have that “sick” feeling, if you know what I mean. I feel great, really. I feel greater when people at work aren’t harassing me. I should be “sick” all the time.
All these vacations I’ve been taking have had me falling far off the meatless wagon, but I’m very much back on now. In fact, I had a wonderful spicy vegetarian ramen at Totto Ramen last night (opening night!). It was rich and savory, not at all light on flavor as I had feared for being a konbu (kelp) based broth.
Going meatless in the city is a joke. I take it for granted that I can find several delectable vegetarian or (sustainable) seafood choices on the menu no matter where we go. It’s when I leave the city or go to a chain restaurant that I realize how lucky I am to be where I am.

Nevada Smiths is going to be a madhouse for the England v. USA match (June 12 at 2:30pm EDT!). I don’t know if I’m ready to handle that. On the other hand, it’ll probably be really fun if it isn’t too crowded to move.
Most of my group Dutch matches are at 7:30am EDT. I guess I could wake up early to catch them, but I’d have to be at Rich’s since I don’t have cable. The other match is at 2:30pm… Maybe I can change the channel on the TV at work. Hehehe.

Now I know why paps come to my little street: Tom Cruise lives here! With the NYU Palladium kids and drunken amateurs from Bar None (pretty much one and the same—though I’ll be honest, the NYU kids are really only bad when finals are over and they’re screaming like idiots in the streets), I have such wonderful neighbours, eh?

Went there this Memorial Day weekend, was back in NYC on Monday. Lots of food, tall buildings, and a surprising amount of fake boobies. We visited two of Rick Bayless’s places (XOCO and Frontera Grill) and I saw Lanie, Rick Bayless’s daughter, at XOCO. She was much less chipper in real life (wait, people aren’t exactly the way they are on TV!?). Pics to come soon, of course (I’m getting better!).
