I had a dream the other night in which Rich and I were playing a game of Starcraft (I), which morphed into a black and green wire-frame version of the game a la Asteroids, which then morphed into a board game with physical pieces for all the buildings that we had to snap down like the boats in Battleship.

I finished Dragon Age: Origins yesterday. I haven’t finished a game in ages. I left FFXIII at the final dungeon. I’ve started about 50 characters on Oblivion over the years, heaping hundreds upon hundreds of hours on the game, but barely ever moving the main story along (after about 30 hours or so, I start a new game with a new character—things get too wonky as you level up). Any games that aren’t RPGs have an even smaller sliver of a chance of getting completed.
Finishing the game gave me that distinct bittersweet feeling I get when I finish a good book series. That feeling I get every time Sam comes back from the Grey Havens and says, “Well, I’m back.” It’s a mix of excitement to get to the end of the book turned suddenly to sadness that it’s actually over and a longing for it to continue on (made more disappointing in this case by over 15 minutes of credits and no extra anything at the end—c’mon! Throw me a bone here!).
And is it a little sad I started to imagine an idyllic little life with my chosen Alistair, one not plagued by darkspawn and solving everybody’s problems, our unlikely human ex-templar/elf mage relationship serving as a beacon of peace and understanding between the disparate peoples of the realm?
I’m looking forward to playing through again as different characters and making different decisions. It’s a good time-killer while I wait for the other games I want to hit Greatest Hits production. I also want to see if they show as much skin during gay sex vs lesbian sex. :p

I updated WordPress and now my entire website is shifted down and there’s a white band on top in Firefox.
*shrug* As long as it still works, right?
I should probably work on a mobile site. I hardly ever turn on the computer at home now since I got my new phone. Unfortunately I’ve fallen woefully behind on web development. Like, I could still make a pure HTML website in Notepad if I wanted, but that would be akin to using a typewriter to type up a report. Nobody wants or needs that skill. And there’s no spell check!?

From DutchNews.nl (emphasis mine):
The anti-Islam PVV in the province of Gelderland think ‘imported exotic’ animals such as Scottish highland cows and ponies from Poland should be removed from the landscape, the Telegraaf reports.
The paper says the PVV’s local provincial election campaign leader Olof Wullink believes the animals should go, saying the region needs ‘our own nature’.
Actually LOL’ed at this.

A whole bunch of Europe flight deals came up (see Slickdeals) the other day for travel by April-ish. For instance, $151 RT from NYC to Copenhagen or Stockholm. The deal’s over already, but I think these blowout sales happen pretty cyclically for the winter/spring season. Next year I’m just going to book a week off work here and there between January and April and wait for the deals to come up. Barring some terrible news, it’s almost a sure bet some crazy deal will occur that’ll fit into whatever week I took off. Where I go will be determined by which deal is best, which keeps things spontaneous and cheap.
Of course I’ll just end up hitting Amsterdam again because I’m a tool.

Another Icelandic volcano threatening to erupt with a dust cloud far bigger than last year’s
Time to start planning a trip to Europe.
“Hi Boss, I won’t be able to return to work tomorrow thanks to Earth’s explosive diarrhea. I’m going to have to take a train down to Italy to catch a flight out. Apparently the only train available passes through France, Belgium, Netherlands, several cities in Germany, Dracula’s castle, Greece, a number of vineyards, and some shopping streets in Milan, before it hits Rome. This train will take about 6 weeks and even then I’m not sure this dust cloud will be gone. Terrible, isn’t it? Wish me luck. Oh but hey, maybe we should think about transferring me to the Luxembourg office since I’m stuck here indefinitely.”
