One of the managers saw me for the first time yesterday since I came back from Vietnam.

“Welcome back, Quynh!” said he. “Where did you go? Amsterdam?”

I’ve only been there twice and I’ve already got a reputation. :p

This is the State of Trance?

I enjoy plenty of house, pop, and hip-hop. But when you play that stuff on a trance show just because the songs happen to use some supersaw and other sounds that are typically characteristic of trance… that doesn’t make it trance. It’s not necessarily bad music, it’s just not trance. It’s the current state of pop music.

It’s also what Armin van Buuren likes to play every first hour of his weekly show for some reason. Might as well play Chris Brown’s “Yeah 3X” because it uses one of those trancey wave sounds too! (I actually like the song; I’d like it better if those pesky vocals could be removed.) Or Usher’s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” which has some supersaw, a classic trance sound.

At least Armin usually puts the blunt down for the second hour… Or maybe he picks it up.

I shamefully admit to being disappointed in missing the opening of the Gossip Girl boutique on Gilt. All the Blair-style blouses I like so much are sold out already.

I mean, nobody really watches the show because of the plot, right?

Get your Dutch debauchery on this weekend.

I won’t be around for Queen’s Day as I will be in… Virginia.

I’m Hideous

Between the complete switch in climates, 30-ish odd hours of continuous traveling, 20 of which were on planes which have super dry air, lack of sleep, and going back to a totally crap diet, my skin is in the worst condition it has ever been in my life. It’s dull, breaking out horrifically, uneven, and managing to be both flakily dry and oily at the same time. I appear to have bubonic plague of the face.

Good thing they make you wear a mask for Sleep No More, the play Rich is taking me to see this Friday.
